Cigars, just like wine will taste better if they are lit after some time. This is not to say that a cigar is not worth it if it is immediately lit by anyone who may have one. It is merely stating a fact that a cigar will improve in its taste and quality after some years of proper storage since this is how the tobacco leave contents prosper with regards to quality tasting cigars.

To some people, it would be best to check out the labels that they come with. The years specified in each box or label have a purpose and this is to show how long the cigar has been preserved thus for people to expect a higher quality taste for them.

Aging cigars may draw negative conclusions. But this would depend entirely on how educated the person who will be lighting the cigar is. There is no basis for waste when one talks about the length of storage a cigar has. The longer a cigar is kept, the better the taste it will provide once it is lit and smoked.

What are you willing to go through to get your nicotine fix? Most people I know simply go to the nearest convenience store and buy a pack of cigarettes. Marlboro Lights, Camel Lights – name the brand, you’ll find them easily most anywhere. The problem these days is that, despite easy enough access to cigarettes, the finances involved aren’t that “pretty” anymore. Smokers all over the United States have been battered by ever increasing taxes, not to mention smoking bans left and right.

While we can’t do much about the smoking bans, there are workarounds to the increasing prices of cigarettes. For example, have you ever thought about rolling your own cigarettes?

Manufactured cigarettes, like the branded ones I mentioned above, are the ones which are taxed highly. However, you can buy tobacco leaves and rolling papers and create your own smokes, which are just as good AND definitely much easier on the pocket. Rolling papers are basically small sheets of paper which can be used to make cigarettes. They can be rolled manually or by machines. Rolling papers can be made of various materials, but the most common base materials are hemp, wood pulp, and flax.

The market is rife with both tobacco leaves and rolling papers. You merely have to know where to get them and which ones to get, and you can make considerable savings while enjoying your smoke.

A note of caution with regard to rolling papers – there are a LOT of brands that you can find in the market today. You have to know which brands are good however, as the material used to make the rolling paper can affect the flavor of your cigarette. There are also some papers which have been reported to contain elements that are higher in carcinogens. If you want to be sure, look for reputable suppliers such as Rolling Supreme, which offers some of the best rolling papers there are. They also offer tobacco and other accessories which will help you roll along and bypass the headaches of high cigarette taxes.

Try rolling your own cigarettes. You might never have to buy a pack from the store again, and have a fatter pocket for it!

The credit crunch still bothering you? I wouldn’t be surprised. Despite the positive aura that a lot of people had at the beginning of the year, things do not seem to be getting that much better. It seems that we still have to face the worst before things start looking up.

If you are having problems finding the money to enjoy your favorite cigar, I have an alternative for you – Greek cigars. I actually read about these cigars from a report by the Associated Press, which talks about Domenico Cigars.

This company is based in Greece but their seeds are from Cuba. The people behind the company also have gotten their knowledge and other cigar making secrets from Cuba itself. As a result, their cigar quality is almost comparable to some of the best and most expensive cigars to be found these days.

Truth be told, the cigar industry in Greece is very young, a mere babe so to speak. The industry only started about 5 years ago in an area northwest of Athens. The climate in this area is hot and damp, making it similar to the Pinar del Rio region in Cuba. As such, it is not that surprising that the cigars produced in Domenico are garnering considerable attention.

Experts state that Domenico cigars do not really match the level of “real” Cubans. Despite the seeds being the same, the soil and weather conditions are not exactly alike. Still, people seem to like them and keep buying them. Maybe you should try one and see for yourself.

For the normal cigarette smoker, shifting their smoking agenda towards the field of cigars should not be intertwined. There are totally different smoking materials. For one, cigarettes are smaller in size and not manufactured and prepared in the way that cigars are done.

Secondly, cigars are entirely expensive compared to one pack of cigarette. For some cigars such as Cuban or Havana manufactured cigars, the price of one piece of cigar may be equivalent or even more expensive than one pack of cigarette. This is largely due to the materials used in making one cigar roll. Tobacco leaves and storage is different and this can be attested to once they are given the chance to try them out.

The manner of smoking is different. For cigarettes they have filters and are inhaled. For cigars, it does not follow that people will inhale them all the time. Chances are they may even get dizzy if they inhale cigar fumes, but there are people who do so, probably because they have been accustomed to doing so with cigarettes beforehand.

Habanos SA and Cubatabaco are known to be the leading groups that handle the manufacturing and distribution of their finest roles produced. Such produced cigars are usually known to be hand made although there are some who also use machines to be able to produce bulk cigars bundles.

Ironically, Cuban cigars where introduced in Europe by the very same person who discovered America, Christopher Columbus. He is credited with this distinction from his numerous voyages, something that people are familiar with today. It is amazing that he too is responsible for making cigars known in Europe.

Tobacco leaves are the main components of cigars today. The qualities of lit cigars vary on the curing time allocated for used tobacco leaves which would usually last between 25 to 45 days. Other factors such as the temperature and climate conditions are contributing factors to which tobacco leaves are considered prior to actual manufacturing of the end product that most people know today as cigars.

After the proper curing time for quality tobacco leaves has been derived, it would all depend on the person tasked to roll and produce the cigar products. The person assigned to do such rolling and packing of cigars can make multiple cigars in a day after which they are finely cut to size to fit in the usual carton cases we see today. The length of time to which they are stored is not a factor to be worried about, but on the contrary is better if they are stored lengthily under proper levels of temperature for more premium taste once they are lit.

People may not know it, but unlike the usual product purchases by consumers, bundling consumer goods is preferred since they give value for their money. In the world of cigars this is totally different. Sure there will still be the presence of getting their money’s worth but in the cigar industry, bundling is often associated with selling second rated cigars that may not meet the standards of the professional cigar smoker.

Preference for quality smoked cigars is a given and it is no mystery why people would prefer buying cigars as individual sticks rather than in bulk. The bundled or second cigars will still possess the same smoke and tobacco, but for the experts, identifying the difference can be determined in the taste that these cigars would have.

Cigars are usually tagged depending on their point of origin such as Nicaraguan Bundles, or brands such as National, Baitoa and La Floridita. Building brand awareness in the category of cigars takes time, ironically similar to smoking quality cigars which would preferably take 6 to 8 weeks of aging before they are offered for sale to the cigar enthusiasts today.

Winston Churchill is arguably the most popular icon in the world of cigars. Though there are many other people who have become a symbol for cigars but no one has ever surpassed Churchill in the eyes of many a cigar smoker. So when I heard the news that Winston Churchill’s grandson has launched a new line of high quality cigars, I became more than interested.

Apparently, Winston Churchill the grandson (yup they have the same name) has teamed up with world renowned firm Davidoff to come up with a patented line of cigars. The Times Online UK reports:

The grandson of Winston Churchill, the former prime minister and arguably the world’s most recognisable smoker, has launched a range of cigars bearing his grandfather’s name.

The 67-year-old former journalist and Conservative MP, also called Winston Churchill, has spent the past eight years and £50,000 gaining exclusive worldwide patents for the range of exclusive cigars.

Manufactured by Davidoff, the luxury goods firm, they bear the names of places that played a significant role in the former prime minister’s life, including No 10, Chequers, Blenheim and Marrakesh, the Moroccan resort that was his favourite holiday destination.

The Blenheim, named after his birthplace, is the most expensive brand, retailing at $550 (£280) for a box of 25.

The cigars are manufactured in the Dominican Republic. The tobacco is grown from Cuban seeds and as such, the raw material is sure to be of only the highest quality. The cigars are now on sale in the United States while the United Kingdom is set to experience these cigars later this year.

In the last post, we took a look at how to tell if the box of Cubans that you are looking at is real. Here are other ways by which you can tell if your Cuban is real.

As in other things, the best way to check if a product is genuine or otherwise is to look for possible defects. What defects can you find in a box of fake Cubans? The truth is that the real Cuban cigars should be of the same exact length. Manufacturers of real Cubans are quite strict on this point so if you find a box with varying sizes, then you are mostly likely getting a fake. More so, there are specified sizes – the length should come at least 1/16th of an inch of these specifications.

More so, as much as possible, you should inspect the cigars themselves. Take one sniff and you just might know if the cigar is fake or not. If you smell the odor of ammonia quite strongly, then the chances are that the cigar is not a Cuban. More so, the whole cigar should be uniform to the touch. That is, the tobacco inside should be packed uniformly.

Another thing that you can look at is the price. Cubans are very high quality cigars and just like with most other finer things in life, you have to expect to pay for them. As such, if you are offered unbelievably inexpensive Cuban cigars, I suggest that you be wary. This is not to say that what you are being offered is automatically a fake but the warning signs should go up.

For most people, hearing the word manufacture is usually synonymous towards machinery doing all the work with the supervision of humans to create quality made cigars that smokers all over the world are demanding. Cigar preparation is an art, something that needs training for cigars to retain their quality once bought. Millions of cigars are manufactured each year, the life span of which does not really impact them since the longer they are stored, the better to smoke them with.

A lot of this lies in the type of tobacco leaves in use. Tobacco leaves available in regions such as Brazil, Cuba, Dominican Republic and Honduras are proof that people have a wide array of sources to choose from. Every cigar smoker would have their preference and as long as these countries are able to produce, it is a sure thing that expert cigar makers are sure to be behind such resources specially made for people anywhere in the world today.
