For the beginning cigar smoker, it would be best to try buying one piece instead of the usual box which would not be light on the pocket of any person. Brands have their say as far as cigars are concerned, but for beginning smokers, this is not yet important.

The essence of what people get from smoke that they have in their mouth is something that no one can really explain. Most people are simply for the acknowledging their curiosity while some are in it because of the things they hear around them.

For one, the tobacco leaves used for some cigars are traced towards medicinal herbs that may be good for the body. This was done in ancient times and has been forgotten ever since.

Cigars are also associated with aid in weight loss. While such may be considered an unorthodox way of putting up with it, some people have found it effective although there may be hitches with regards to health as the inhaled smoke may be bad for the body as smoking has been known for.

The Humidor is a cigar store in this area, about 45 miles from Palm Springs. It also has a cigar lounge in the back, if you want to immediately smoke the cigar that you buy.

I have not had the pleasure of visiting The Humidor yet but Alejandro Benes’s write up is enough to make me want to:

The store is busy. Customers come through the door, comment on how hot it is — and dry, did you hear? —and tell Hughes that they want something like “a 30-minute mild cigar, a Garcia Vega or a Punch.” I’m sure that’s the first time I’ve ever heard those two brands uttered in the same sentence. Hughes is surprisingly tolerant of this kind of request. He helps the guy and finds him an appropriate cigar.

The Humidor is kind of an oasis on this and most days. There’s a guy on the computer in the lounge, which has WiFi. A football game is on the TV. Another visitor is in town for his son’s college soccer game and has a couple of hours to sit and enjoy a smoke, listen to the blues on the sound system and then hear Hughes play a mean blues harp (harmonica).

“I can’t do this where I live,” said the guest, the stress melting away. He’s from Calabasas, a California city that banned outdoor smoking.

If you are living in a place which has banned outdoor smoking you would certainly appreciate something like The Humidor. Anyone been there?

When your mobile phone rings, where do you take the call?
A better question might be, do you take the call at all? Sometimes, the cigar lounge is just like the movie theater. People hate interruptions such as mobile phone sounds. Even worse, people hate it when guys talk on the phone inside the lounge, especially if they can’t keep their voices down. My suggestion is to put your phone on silent mode (just leave the vibrate option on) and take only important calls. When you do take the call, step outside – it won’t kill you and it will do wonders for your reputation.

Where do you get the cigar that you smoke?
The common sense answer would be from the accompanying shop of the cigar lounge you smoke at, right? You might be surprised at how many people bring their own cigars (purchased elsewhere) to cigar lounges. Courtesy and respect requires that you buy the cigars where you smoke. That’s pretty much self-explanatory.

How long do you keep the shop employees busy?
What I mean is, let’s say you are unsure as to which cigar to buy for the day. How long do you engage the staff to find the cigar that you want? It is not really a problem, especially if there aren’t too many people waiting their turn. But if you are not sure as to what you want to buy and there is a long line behind you, you might want to step aside and browse through their selection first. There is no point in holding other people up, is there?

Cigars are rare today, and unless people are the standard cigar addicts, only a few can see people regularly smoking cigars in public. Cigars have become a preserved commodity, usually being lit and puffed during occasions such as a new job, new promotion or a closed deal with partners. Triumph has therefore been associated with cigars, a call to celebration and relaxation in most cases.

Cigars symbolize quality and achievement. Most people would not know why this practice is followed but nevertheless perform it on occasions that call for it anywhere in the world.

With the way cigar is supposed to be smoked (don’t inhale it!) more and more people are beginning to appreciate cigars and even the art of smoking them. Yuppies and young adults are rediscovering the unique set of experiences that cigar smoking brings to the table. Since these new fans of cigars are part of the new generation, they are using the tools that they are familiar with to further deepen their knowledge about cigars. Who said traditions can’t be modernized?

Cigars have had the distinction of being entirely finely prepared and becoming more identified with people who put premium in puffing the quality manufactured tobaccos that are best known for manual labor preparations. People usually pair them with coffee or smoke them during special events such as newly born babies and parties. Some have resorted to trying to quit the habit. Using alternatives such as gum or applying filters to lower the nicotine intake has not done much to alter the demand for tobacco manufacturers today. The efforts made are totally unexplainable and despite the hazard warnings and medical inclinations placed on them, people still continue to patronize and look for them.

Whatever the case may be, it all boils down to really sheer will power to kick the smoking habit and nothing else. Perhaps when the mortality rate of people dying from lung cancer would drop, then it can be said that people are doing something to really kick the habit of smoking.

Cigar smoking is believed to be addicting. Nicotine is the primary culprit that people would turn to but yet people would care less. Some would take up smoking to relax themselves, while there are people who really have no sufficient to smoke. Some would feel that it is just a form of identification to be accepted in social events.

But just the same, smoking would really be something a person would best avoid since it is a habit that is really hard to kick. The final decision on it would be on the person and depending on the actual reason why they do smoke these tobacco leaves for self-satisfaction.

Starting the first of July, the tax on tobacco will increase. This means one thing: the prices of cigars and other tobacco products are going to go up as well. And, if there is one thing that cigar enthusiasts would not like to happen, this is it. There is no way around it, however. The government has made the decision, and the taxes are going to increase, so we might as well face it.

Now on to the good news…it is just the beginning of April. That means that Utah cigar enthusiasts still have at least a couple of months to stock up on their favorite cigars. Even better, smoke shop owners in Utah are making moves to prepare for the tax increase.

If you go to Utah, you will see shops left and right offering excellent deals. The reason for this is that they are actually cutting back on orders. It’s not that they do not want to keep doing business, but a lot of them are small businesses, and they do not have that much cash laying around to buy as much as they used to. This is even harder on them as they will have to pay the 51% difference in tax on their existing inventory by July 1.
