He did it again! In fact, in Split last night, Hauke Walter, aka ”The Iceman”, from Germany did what very few others have done. In competition with around 80 other smokers from more than 40 countries he became slow smoking world champion for the second time.
The first time he won, in 2018, his winning time was 2 hours 48 minutes and 5 seconds, although with a different cigar. Since then he’s reached three hours of smoking many times, but last year in Split his cigar went out at 2 hours 42 minutes and 18 seconds, resulting in a place right outside the podium. Coming into this final his season best was 3 hours 1 minute and 30 seconds and when push came to shove he got even better. 3 hours 28 minutes and 7 seconds secured him his second title and is eight minutes better than Borys Szkodzik’s winning time from last year.
Second place went to Andrey Leontiev from Belarus and third place to Anastasiya Arsenova from Kazakistan. They all smoked for more than three hours.
