Cigar News: Black Label Trading Co Bishops Blend Novemdiales Set to Hit Retailers

September 13, 2023 By

At the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Oveja Negra Brands showcased a new limited edition iteration of its popular Black Label Trading Co Bishops Blend line, the Bishops Blend Novemdiales. This week, Oveja Negra Brands will begin shipping the line.

The Bishops Blend Novemdiales was created as a part of Black Label Trading Company’s 10th anniversary. The name Novemdiales refers to the nine-day mourning period following the death of a Pope. The Bishops Blend Novemdiales is described as a revised iteration of the original Bishops Blend. It is highlighted by a Pennsylvania Broadleaf. There were also some other tweaks done to the blend.

In addition to the Pennsylvania Broadleaf, the Bishops Blend Novemdiales features an Ecuadorian Habano binder and fillers consisting of Nicaraguan, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut Broadleaf tobaccos. The Bishops Blend Novemdiales will come in three sizes – each presented in 20-count boxes:  Petite Corona (4 1/2 x 46, SRP $10.50), Toro (6 x 48, SRP $12.00), and Robusto (5 x 50, SRP $11.00). Production comes from Fabrica Oveja Negra in Estelí, Nicaragua.

“Bishops Blend has been one of our most popular and sought-after releases. This year, to help celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Black Label Trading Co., we felt compelled to create a special edition. The Bishops Blend Novemdiales is an amped-up version of the traditional Bishop. We tweaked the blend a bit and went with a Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper instead of the traditional Ecuador Habano Maduro. The Novemdiales will be available in vitolas not seen before in the Bishops Blend lineage. The result is a very rich, earthy, and intricate fusion of dark fruits, layers of spice, and a stout star anise finish,” said James Brown, creator of Black Label Trading Co. and partner at Fabrica Oveja Negra, in a press release.

At a glance, here is a look at the Bishops Blend Novemdiales:
