Casdagli Cigars Cigars has announced it is changing the name of the recently announced Napoleonic Collection to Brothers of the Sabre. The two cigars announced under that collection, Brave and Forrader remain the same. Casdagli Cigars says the Brothers of the Sabre will be presented at the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show when it opens on July 7, 2023.
Casdagli Cigars issued the following statement:
“Although we had searched both the Madrid and USA patent offices and confirmed the availability of the word “Napoleonic” to be attached to premium cigar products, we have just been alerted by El Septimo’s lawyers that they were first to the market with this mark. We were unaware that El Septimo had launched a Napoleon cigar, part of their Emperor Collection, at PCA in 2022. So in order to proceed amicably with El Septimo we have made the decision to change the name of this line of cigars to Brothers of the Sabre. All of these Napoleonic Generals wore their sabres into battle so I believe this an appropriately dynamic name for these warriors we seek to honour,” commented Jeremy Casdag in a press release.
According to Casadagli Cigars, El Septimo have stated they have no issue with Casdagli Cigar’s use of Blücher, Forrader, Ney or Brave in connection with this line of cigars.
Brothers of the Sabre is a collection of cigars that will honor eight generals . Each year over the next four years, two new general lines will be launched. Each general will have a small line of two or-three vitolas. While generals from France and Prussia are being honored this year, other generals will be from Great Britain, Austria, and Russia. Thhis year, Casdagli will honor two generals. The “Brave” line pays homage to France’s Marshal Michel Ney (nicknamed “The Brave”). The “Forrader” line is named for Prussia’s Generalfeldmarschall Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher (nicknamed “General Forwards”). Both cigars are being produced by Hendrik Kelner Jr at the KBF factory
The Brave line features an Ecuadorian wrapper over a Dominican binder and fillers. Meanwhile, Forrader features an Ecuadorian wrapper over a Dominican binder and a combination of fillers from the USA, Dominican Republic, and Zimbabwe. Both will come in two sizes: Robusto (4.9 x 50, $17.50 MSRP for each blend) and Piramide (6 1/2 x 53, $21.00 MSRP for each blend) – each presented in 20-count boxes.
