Don Conrado Plasencia, brother of Sixto and uncle of Néstor Plasencia has died. Don Conrado has served for many years factory director at the Plasencia’s Tabacos de Oriente factory in Danli, Honduras.
The Plasencia family had settled in Nicaragua in 1965, two years after their tobacco operation was confiscated by the Cuban government. In 1978, the Nicaraguan Revolution occurred and this burned down many of the Plasencia family farms. Once again, the Plasencias had to migrate – this time it was to Honduras where they opened Tabacos de Oriente. Don Conrado eventually took over as the Factory Director and served in that role until his passing. Eventually the Plasencias went back to Nicaragua, but have maintained their Honduran operations with Don Conrado at the helm at Tabacos de Oriente.
While at the helm of Tabacos de Oriente, the Plasencias experienced a period of great growth, making cigars out of that factory for many cigar companies, and eventually for themselves (most notably Plasencia’s Cosecha Series)
Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Cathedral of the Conception in Jacksonville Florida, United States.
