Forged Cigar Company is releasing a new regular production line under the Bolivar brand called Gran Republica.
The Bolivar brand pays homage to Simon Bolivar, who led the liberation of many countries in South America. The Gran Republica blend features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over a Brazilian Arapiraca binder and fillers from Colombia, Brazil, and Nicaragua. Bolivar led the liberation efforts for two of the countries who have tobacco included in the blend: Ecuador and Colombia.
The cigar comes in three sizes: Robusto (4 1/2 x 50), Toro (6 x 54), and Gigante (6 x 60) – each presented in 20-cont boxes. Production comes from the HATSA factory in Honduras.
In a press release, Steve Abbot, director of marketing for Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) said, “With Bolivar Gran Republica, we are continuing to build the legacy of this important brand. This is a bold blend for the initiated smoker, one that not only deepens the range of offerings from Bolivar but that also highlights the best of South American tobacco. We’re confident that Gran Republica will be a strong addition to the growing Bolivar portfolio.”
In the past couple of years, Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) has slowly been revitalizing the Bolivar brand. There was a recent push with the Bolivar Cofradia line. Last year the company released the limited edition Bolivar Cofradia Lost & Found.
