Nica Oro, LLC has announced the release of the Belleau Wood Brand. This is a three-blend Cuban-sandwich-style bundle project developed by Indiana Ortez. Nica Oro is a Florida-based company that is handling distribution for Belleau Wood as well as for Indiana Ortez’s Casa de Ortez brand.
Belleau Wood is a famed battle of World War I that took place in France. The cigars pay homage to the Devil Dogs, the U.S. Marines that participated in the battle.
Indiana Ortez commented, “this project is very exciting for me! Learning about the history and significance of the battle really allowed me to take what is normally a regular cigar for this market segment and focus on a memorable blend using choice tobaccos, something I don’t think is given its due with these types of everyday cigars.”
Produced out of the Ortez factory in Condega, the cigars come in three blends: Connecticut, Habano, and Maduro. Each of the three blends features a wrapper grown in Ecuador over binder and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua. All three blends are offered in the same sizes: Toro (6 x 54/SRP $4.10), Robusto (5 x 52/SRP $3.95), Presidente (7 1/2 x 50/SRP $4.15), and Gordo (6 x 60/SRP $4.25). Instead of coming in cellophane, the cigars come in a 20-count “dynamic box.” Each box offers a perforated break where each 20-count bundle can be instantly turned into a display box for single cigar purchases.
The cigars are expected to ship in May.
