A massive fire broke out in the early evening hours of 5/17 at one of Arturo Fuente’s warehouses. The damage appears to have taken down a warehouse housing tobacco and it is estimated approximately one million pounds of tobacco could have been lost.
The fire took place in Palmar Abajo Villa González, municipality of Santiago. Firefighters were able to put out the fire, but not before significant damage was done. It was back in August, 2011 when another Arturo Fuente warehouse was destroyed in the Villa González area.
“Everyone is ok. Thank God,” told Carlito Fuente in a message to Cigar Coop. As for the tobacco, Fuente described it as a “massive loss of irreplaceable aged tobacco”.
An on-going investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fire.
