A new company called Santana Cigars is set to launch its debut blend, the Santana San Andres. Formed by Andy Santana, the Santana San Andres is being produced in the Dominican Republic out of Tabacalera William Ventura.
Andy Santana’s love for cigars was inspired by his grandfather, Manuel Montero. Montero was a cigar roller in Havana Cuba and served as a role model for Andy. During Andy’s adolescent years, he would take trips to the farms in Pinar del Rio Cuba, and this fueled his inspiration and passion for tobacco. At age 13, Andy escaped Cuba and landed in Miami. He would earn a degree from Florida International University and open several cigar businesses outside the cigar industry. Not satisfied, Andy would sell his business and purchase “Absolute Cigar Shop,” a cigar lounge in Brickell-Miami, and then open a second location in Little Havana. Wishing to honor his grandfather, Andy decided to pursue moving into starting his own cigar brand and Santana Cigars was born.
The Santana San Andres is an all-box-pressed line. The blend features a San Andres wrapper over a Sumatra binder and fillers of Dominican Corojo and Criollo tobaccos. The cigars are available in three sizes: Robusto, Torpedo, and Toro – each presented in 20-count boxes.
