News: Details Emerge on New Camacho Broadleaf Cigar

September 27, 2023 By

Camacho has announced the Camacho Broadleaf as the latest addition to their core line. The cigars were first teased by Senior Brand Manager, Eddy Guerra, on an episode of Smoke Night LIVE in early June, but more details and imagery are now available.

Until now, the best-known Camacho cigar with a Broadleaf wrapper was the Camacho American Barrel-Aged, which featured primarily American tobaccos—some of which were aged in spent bourbon barrels. With the Camacho Broadleaf, the blend centers on tobaccos from Camacho’s home of Honduras, as well as a portion of Dominican tobacco. This includes the cigar’s signature wrapper, which is grown in Honduras instead of the conventional Connecticut River Valley.

“I am thrilled with the amazing work our Master Blenders in Honduras have done. They created a cigar line which is not only excellent in taste, but also bold and fearless in attitude – exactly what our aficionados are searching for”, says Edward Simon, CMO at Oettinger Davidoff. “The darker Broadleaf wrapper in particular adds a lot of excitement to the cigar experience, as it endows every format with an oily, almost silky appearance and a creamy note to the taste profile.”

The Camacho Broadleaf uses an almost-indistinguishable look in comparison to the American Barrel-Aged, including black/copper boxes and bands, which likely signals this addition as a replacement for the prior cigar, which debuted in 2015.

The line is packaged in boxes of 20 cigars, with three sizes available at launch: Robusto (5? x 50 | $9.25/cigar), Toro (6? x 50 | $9.75/cigar), and Gordo (6? x 60 | $10.50/cigar). Differing from the intense profile of the American Barrel-Aged, the Camacho Broadleaf is described in a press release as “A medium intense smoke.” However, an intensity gauge on the interior of the box seems to indicate medium-full.

The cigars will ship to retailers in early September, and will arrive in Germany and Switzerland on September 15, 2023.
