Hooten & Young Cigars have announced the Operator and Operation Neptune Spear—two cigars that will debut at next month’s PCA trade show in Las Vegas.
The company is relatively new to the premium cigar scene, being founded in 2018 by former Special Mission Unit member Norm Hooten and Tim Young. As such, their cigars center around military themes, with the company being created to “help people slow down, bond with the people around them, remember those that are no longer here and to celebrate the selfless acts of servicemen and servicewomen.”
The Operator cigar is described as “a fearless yet humble professional of the U.S. Special Operations Forces with an extraordinary sense of physical and emotional grit.” The blend uses an African Cameroon wrapper, Ecuadorian Habano binder, and undisclosed fillers.
The Operation Neptune Spear blend honors the famed mission of U.S. Navy SEAL Team Six, leading to the successful finding and killing of Osama bin Laden on May 2, 2011. This blend features a Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper, an Ecuadorian Habano binder, and Nicaraguan fillers from the country’s three primary growing regions: Estelí, Condega, and Jalapa.
While the the Operator is medium-bodied, the Operation Neptune Spear is described as medium-full. Each blend has been made by Córdoba & Morales (a company that typically uses the Tabacalera CM factory) in Nicaragua, with the Operator sized at 6½” x 54 (complete with a pigtail cap) and the Operation Neptune Spear a 6? x 50 toro.
Following the PCA debut, the cigars will have simultaneous pre-release parties in Florida (Cigar City – Lakeland, FL) and Texas (Creekside Cigar Lounge – Belton, TX), being held on Aug. 5th.
