As has been commonplace for years now, many cigar brands showcase new smoking experiences to coincide with each year’s zodiac symbol, tying into the Chinese New Year. Altadis’ VegaFina is one such brand, and will continue their zodiac series this month with the release of the VegaFina Year of the Rabbit.
Alternately dubbed VegaFina Classic Year of the Rabbit 2023, the cigar will be released in the US later this month, hitting global markets in February. The cigars are meant to be smoked alongside the Chinese New Year, which will be held on Jan. 22, 2023.
“VegaFina is a brand with a strong global presence that has captured the hearts of adult cigar lovers for decades,” said Rafael Nodal, Head of Product Capability. “Now we are inviting adult U.S. cigar enthusiasts to be part of this special VegaFina holiday tradition with a limited production of 1,500 boxes of VegaFina Classic Year of the Rabbit 2023 made for the U.S. market.”
The new blend is rolled at the Tabacalera de García factory in the Dominican Republic with an undisclosed recipe. The cigars feature Year of the Rabbit-themed sub-bands and boxes, being rolled in a 6? x 50 torpedo format. The commemorative boxes feature 16 cigars which are split into two rows of eight, with each box being numbered. The blend is described as starting mild in body and amplifying to full-bodied levels by the end of the smoke, being balanced and hitting notes of wood, spice, chocolate and coffee.
The cigars will launch in the US later this month at $12 MSRP per cigar and will then be showcased at the upcoming 2023 TPE convention in February.
