One of the rising boutique companies we have seen over the past few years has been Aric Bey’s Black Star Line Cigars. Coming into this year’s Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Bey, and Black Star Line would introduce two new cigars. While Black Star Line is best known for working with the Aganorsa Leaf factory in Nicaragua, this year, Black Star Line would introduce cigars from two new manufacturing partners. These include Hostos Queasda’s Tabacalera La Isla and James Brown’s Fabrica Oveja Negra.

First up is a new regular-production cigar known as Mr. Fahrenheit. The cigar pays homage to firefighters as well as the late singer, Freddie Mercury of Queen. Black Star Line Cigars owner Aric Bey is a former firefighter. Mr. Fahrenheit is referenced in the Queen song, “Don’t Stop Me Now.” For the blend, production is coming from Tabacalera La Isla. The blend consists of a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, a Dominican binder, and a combination of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. It will be produced in one size – a 6 x 46 Corona. The company says the initial production will be 5,000 cigars. Pricing is set at $11.99 per cigar.

Next up is the Rosewood 1923. This cigar memorializes the 100th anniversary of a race riot that happened in Rosewood, Florida, in 1923. The cigar will be a regular production offering by Black Star Line Cigars and come in one size – a 6 x 48 Toro. The blend consists of a Mexican San Andres wrapper, an Ecuadorian binder, and a combination of Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers. The cigar is being produced out of Fabrica Oveja Negra. The initial production will include 400 20-count boxes and 100 20-count bundles. Pricing is set at $12.99 per cigar.

Both cigars have begun shipping to retailers.
