A whole suite of firsts are coming from Scandinavian Tobacco Group’s (STG) Cohiba brand this May, as the Mexican-themed Cohiba Riviera will make its debut.
Cohiba Riviera is the first full-time offering from the brand since 2020’s Cohiba Royale, boasting a box-pressed shape and a Mexican San Andrés wrapper—both new to the Cohiba brand.
Cohiba Brand Ambassador Sean Williams said, “Cohiba Riviera is a bold yet balanced blend of the most exceptional tobaccos from Nicaragua with exclusively-grown tobaccos from Honduras. Medium-to-full bodied and adorned with a delectable wrapper from Mexico, Riviera is an elegant selection offering notes of dark chocolate and coffee bean with a hint of leather and subtle cream on the finish.”
Cohiba Riviera is named after the San Andrés Tuxtla Valley where the cigar’s wrapper is harvested. This leaf is joined by a Honduran-grown Connecticut binder and Central American fillers of Honduras (La Entrada and proprietary Jamastran) and Nicaragua (Condega and Estelí).
The packaging is on par with former Cohiba releases of late, swapping the primary color for a new purple scheme. The cigars were rolled out of the company’s STG Estelí factory in Nicaragua, with a selection of three sizes ready for launch in May.
