The fifth cigar in Espinosa’s ambitious Las 6 Provincias series has been revealed as the Las 6 Provincias ZDT.
Las 6 Provincias kicked off in 2018 with the LHB cigar, being followed by the MTZ (2019), LV (2021), and CMW (2022). Translating to The Six Provinces, the cigars aimed to highlight each of the original six provinces of Cuba before communist takeover during the 1960s. And while the cigars are blended by the Espinosa team, the project was spearheaded by Erik Espinosa Jr., who has showcased custom, elaborate packaging presentations for each release.
With Las 6 Provincias ZDT, the cigars are themed after one of the best-known regions—Zona de Tabaco—which is recognized as the country’s top tobacco-growing region: Pinar del Río. With this cigar, Espinosa showcases an all-Nicaraguan binder/filler and a dark Corojo wrapper, being rolled in a box-pressed 6½” x 48 Short Churchill format.
Said Erik Espinosa, “This is really a passion project for me, my son, and the team, we have been creative with this project since the beginning. This year’s project is simply beautiful.”
As with previous releases, the cigars feature custom artwork from local Cuban artist Eden Gutierrez, depicting tobacco processing throughout the cigar’s packaging. This release is presented in 20-count ceramic jars, which are set to retail for $360 MSRP ($18/cigar). As with former releases, the cigars have been rolled out of A.J. Fernández’s northernmost San Lotano factory in Nicaragua. The cigars are expected to be on display later this week at the PCA trade show in Las Vegas, with limited allotments shipping this October.
